Temperature to Brew the Tea

Heat up the water to near boiling temperature (upto 190°F/90C) for Black teas. For Green teas and White teas slightly lesser temperature (upto 180°F/80C) would be preferable. Boiling water could affect the liquor and it can make the tea taste bitter.

Tea Quantity to Steep

Place the leaves onto the strainer or on the teapot. Generally for a single cup, 8oz/240ml water for 1 tea spoon (2-3 grams) is the ratio. The more leaves you add the liquor will be stronger. You can experiment with the quantity of leaves according to the tea grade to find the right amount for you.

Steep/Strain the Tea

Pour the hot water into the strainer or the Teapot. Make sure to drench the leaves properly to brew them well.

Tea Steep Time

Allow the tea to steep for 3 to 5 minutes for Black teas. For other teas such as Leafy black teas, Green Teas and White teas, you might need at least 4 to 5 minutes to steep well. Liquor would be stronger, if you brew for a longer time.

Dispose the Used Tea

Remove the strainer and dispose the tea. Some leaves can be reused, but some leafy grades have to be discarded.

Make Milk Tea or Drink Straight

Add sweetener or milkAdd a sugar or some sweetener if you prefer. Also if you prefer Milk, Cream or some other flavoring, you could add them as well.

Serve the Tea

Your tea is ready for tasting. Pour it to a cup and enjoy!
